Experience an intimate rehearsal as the players of American Avant-Garde practice for their upcoming concert.
This program of glorious, tradition-oriented works includes Samuel Barber’s impetuous String Quartet whose central movement is the original version of the celebrated Adagio for Strings; the other, less familiar but equally enjoyable chamber work that Dvořák composed during his 1893 summer holiday in Iowa; and the warm, melodious quintet by Amy Beach, the first American woman to find success as a composer of large-scale works.
