Toronto Summer Music appoints Jonathan Crow as Artistic Director
TORONTO…The Board of Toronto Summer Music is pleased to announce the appointment of Canadian violinist Jonathan Crow as TSM’s new Artistic Director effective September 1st, 2016.
A native of Prince George, British Columbia, Jonathan Crow currently resides in Toronto where he is in his fifth season as Concertmaster of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Jonathan Crow is an avid chamber musician and has performed at chamber music festivals throughout North America, South America and Europe. He is a founding member of the New Orford String Quartet and he has recorded for several labels including ATMA, Bridge, CBC, and Oxingale. Jonathan Crow has been an Associate Professor of Violin at the University of Toronto since 2012. Jonathan Crow is well known to TSM audiences and artists; he has mentored young musicians in the TSM Academy and he has performed as a guest artist in numerous TSM concerts over the past five years. At the 2016 Festival, Mr. Crow will be a resident guest artist from July 25-August 7, will be featured in a concert on July 28, and mentor students in the TSM Academy. Mr. Herman added, “On behalf of the Board, I want to express our gratitude to Douglas McNabney, our esteemed current Artistic Director, whom Jonathan will succeed. Douglas has led the Festival for over six years and built a solid and respected foundation for its continuing success. ” McNabney will continue as TSM’s Artistic Director until the end of August 2016.
