Written in the same period as Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances, this quartet is unmistakably slavonic in inspiration, propelled forward by insistent folk dance rhythms and melodies. A wide range of art song selections completes the program, highlighting British contributions to the genre with works by Britten and Vaughan Williams.
